On 15th of August 1947, India got freedom from the British rule. British ruled India from 1858 to 1947, which was also called the period of dominion. Right since 1947, 15th of August is celebrated in India as the Independence day. Flag hosting ceremonies and parades are carried throughout the nation. Independence day is one among the 3 national holidays in India, the Republic day which is celebrated on 26th of January and Gandhi Jayanti which is celebrated on the birthday of Father of the Nation i.e., in 2nd of October are the rest of the national holidays.
