The history behind the Independence is full pain and of suffer. Because of these tolerance and sacrifices India got freedom from British Empire (British rule) on 15th August 1947. Millions of Indian people struggled united and fought for the freedom of Nation.

Year 1857 is a Benchmark in the history of Indian Independence. Indian freedom fighter Mangal Pandey, raised the voice against the British , reason behind this was the low wages of Indian workers. The British govt never treated the Indian people with respect, they were always considered to be backward people when compared to British fellows. Some of the ideal leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose , Jawaharlal Nehru , tried to gain freedom through peace.

In 1942 Mahatma Gandhi stared the "Quit India Movement", huge amount of public supported more than before. Because of this protest British Government jailed number of leaders and civilians along with Gandhi ji , Subhas Chandra Bose. With two successive wars , British Empire were almost dead and because of it they found it very difficult to manage India. And huge numbers of native Indians wanted British to leave the Nation.

At last, on June 3rd 1947, the last British Governor-General of India, declared that British Govt will leave the Indian subcontinent. And at mid-night, on 15th August 1947, India was declared to be an Independent Nation by her first prime minister Pundit Jwaharlal Nehru.

After that, every year on 15th August India Celebrates their INDEPENDENCE DAY. 15th August is a National holiday across the India and is celebrated with lots of joy and passion.

We still remember the leaders like Mahatma Gandhi , Jawaharlal Nehru and Subash Chandra Bose for their contribution in Indian Independence. On 15th August, 2014 India celebrates its 68th INDEPENDENCE DAY.

Happy 68th Independence Day.
